The device has an aerodynamic fairing (5) including two lateral deflectors, which are positioned with respect to a median, where spacing of the lateral deflectors with respect to the median ranges between 1 and 1.30 meters. The fairing is connected to a rigid frame (6) that is connected to a semi-trailer (2) by welding. The frame is positioned in a space delimiting the fairing and in upstream of a plane passing by an upstream end of an intermodal container (3), when a road unit is in transport phase of the container.
