The device (10) has a shock absorber provided at a pelvic zone of an occupant of a seat adjacent to an opening frame e.g. side door, of a motor vehicle e.g. commercial vehicle. The absorber is fixed to an external panel of the opening frame at its lower part (5) and is rigidly fixed by a rear edge (19) to a rear guiding rail (13) of the opening frame for permitting guided sliding of a glass of the opening frame. The absorber includes upper projections (24-26) supported on an internal surface of the panel.
