The method involves determining whether an actuator is in a blocked state or diverging state, and determining whether duration of an alert phase exceeds a value when the actuator is in the blocked state. A determination is made whether duration of the alert phase exceeds another value when the actuator is in the diverging state. A determination is made if a hydraulic circuit delivers hydraulic failure information, if the duration of the alert phase exceeds the former value, when the actuator is in the blocked state, where the circuit is constituted of a pressure gauge. An independent claim is also included for a device for monitoring displacement control of an actuator.
