The system has mobile front and intermediate panels slidingly displaceable between a deployed position, in which the panels cover a passenger compartment of a motor vehicle, and a partial/total retracted position in which the panels are arranged one above the other and above a rear panel. Guide rails guide the mobile panels, and pantograph systems guide vertical and horizontal displacements of the mobile panels between the positions. One of the pantograph systems has a variation unit (40) to vary the vertical displacement of the front panel based on partial/total retracted position.
