The console has an elongated body in a longitudinal direction of a motor vehicle. The body has a rear wall (18) that is placed in a console`s rear part which is in rear of an occupant area of one of front seats of the vehicle, in a transversal direction. The body comprises partition walls (24, 26) that are placed in the transversal direction between lateral walls (16). The partition walls comprise a bottom collapsing device (28) that permits a reduction of transversal dimension of the walls, when the walls are subjected to a shock in the transversal direction.
