The method involves extruding a molten plastic parison in an extruder through a die, and making at least one longitudinal cut in the parison. The parison is introduced into a mold comprising two cavities. A hollow plastic body is molded by conforming the parison to the mold cavities. The die includes a molten-plastic passage which gradually modifies the shape of the parison so that it is flattened on exiting. An independent claim is also included for a die.
