The method involves using a sheet of titanium or titanium alloy having a thickness of 1.7 to 2mm, and determining a grain flow of fibers (2) of the sheet. Portions of the sheet parallel to the grain flow of the fibers of the sheet are cut out. Bone plates or bone plate blanks (4) are cut out from each portion (3) of the sheet, so that a longitudinal direction of the plates or blanks is parallel to the grain flow of the fibers of the sheet. The sheet, plates or blanks are curved, and the plates or blanks are finished.
