The device has a flat element (1) provided with an adjustment and fixation unit for directly or indirectly adjusting and fixing the flat element via an intermediate fixation unit on a lower face of a door leaf relative to a male hinge of a door frame. The flat element is articulated to a hollow element (6) e.g. cylindrical metallic part, by articulation units, where the hollow element co-operates with an axle of a male hinge pin. The elements form an assembly of a female hinge adaptable to the male hinge located relative to the door frame to reform a garnet hinge. An independent claim is also included for a method for mounting a door leaf on a door frame.
