Measuring the total complexing power of a solution of volume (V) comprising chemical complexing species, comprises adding a quantity (Q1) of cocations to a solution, waiting for duration to obtain a mixture comprising with their equilibrium concentrations of cobalt cations in the free and complexed forms, extraction of the mixture of cobalt cations in the complexed form and chemical complexing species, measuring the quantity (Q2) of such cobalt cations in free-form within the mixture, calculating the overall complexing power by dividing the difference between the (Q1) and (Q2) by volume.
