The system includes a summary layer (16) that receives requests from CIM clients (12) via the CIM object manager (14). After receiving a request, the summary layer retrieves the associated XML registration file (22) for generating an instruction in the target managed object of the request. Once the statement is executed for the managed object, the requested data is returned to the summary layer. The data returned to the summary layer takes the form of untransformed XML content. The summary layer retrieves an XSL transformation file (24) and transforms the XML content into CIM data and transfers this data to the CIM object manager.
