The method involves establishing a priori value of initial volume of effluent contained in a measuring container, where the priori value is the function of nominal volume of the container. A set of posteriori values of corresponding volumes and heights of effluent in the container is established by controlled inverse gauging until a final posteriori value of volume and height of the effluent is complement to the priori value. The gauging of the container is defined by the posteriori values. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a system for gauging a measuring container from a priori volume capacity value of the container (2) a computer program comprising instructions for implementing a measuring container gauging method.
