The system has a fixed trolley or kanban (10) provided at an assembly line edge. A mobile trolley or shooter (20) transports containers (B) between a logistic zone e.g. container preparing zone, and an assembly line edge position in which the shooter contacts with the kanban. A retaining unit retains the containers on a collecting platform (21). A release mechanism releases the retaining unit during docking of the shooter on the kanban, so that the containers are displaced from the shooter in the line edge. An independent claim is also included for a method for transporting and handling a container.
