A new therapeutic approach for the destruction of cancerous cells by means of differentiation. This is based on the use of a model system (the egg cell in its broadest sense) and on the identification of an original biological target in cancer cells (immature mitochondria) and of molecules of therapeutic interest acting on the differentiation of this target. This is based on the claim that the understanding of cancer is a projection of fundamental medical research which produces new knowledge about the disease and its control. Independent claims are also included for (1) the use of a model system, that of the egg cell in the broadest sense: (a) the genesis of the egg cell and the triggering of its genetic programme as the closest model for the pathology, and (b) the perinatal period, for the identification of candidate drugs (2) the identification of an original biological target in the cancer cells, i.e. immature mitochondria, and of active molecules of therapeutic interest which can affect the differentiation of this target.
