The rotor has magnetic barrier forming elements (68) i.e. permanent magnets, arranged in interpolar spaces associated on both sides of a determined claw (52D) of a rear polar wheel (46S), where the elements are made of ferro-magnetic material. The elements have front longitudinal ends (72) assembled together in a manner to form a V-shaped open-chain (80) by an attachment (82), where the attachment is made of plastic, thermally fusible or non-magnetic metallic material. The attachment is connected to the ends by circumferential ends and axially overlaps a free end (56) of the claw. An independent claim is also included for a method of assembling a rotor of an electrical rotating machine.
