The method involves applying a hashing function e.g. secure hash algorithm (SHA1) function, on an identifier of a data file to be stored. A destination directory path is determined in a tree based o the hashing result. The data file is stored in the directory at a location based on the hashing result. The hashing function is applied on an identifier of a data file to be read. A target directory path is determined in the tree based on the preceding hashing result. The data file is read in the directory at another location based on the preceding hashing result.
