The method involves acquiring a general three dimensional model i.e. mesh, of an object, and projecting the model based on a two-dimensional representation. Three dimensional object's position information is associated to the two-dimensional representation. The two-dimensional representation is selected and positioned on the object in the image. A three-dimensional position of the object in the image is determined from the position information associated to the selected two-dimensional representation. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for creating a key frame (2) a computer program comprising instructions for implementing a three-dimensional object's position determining method (3) a computer program comprising instructions for implementing a key frame creating method (4) an information storage unit comprising computer program code instructions for implementing the three-dimensional object's position determining method (5) an information storage unit comprising computer program code instructions for implementing the key frame creating method (6) a device for determining a position of a three-dimensional object in an image.
