The cage (Ci) has elementary cages (11, 12) respectively with two parts (18, 19) defined by closed side walls (20, 22) having two faces (21, 24) with two planes. The elementary cages are mounted in co-operation relative to each other such that the parts are mounted in rotation relative to each other around a rotational axle (13). The elementary cages are mounted in co-operation relative to each other such that the planes form a non-zero angle (alpha) relative to each other when the parts are in an open position, and the faces contact each other when the parts are in a closed position. An independent claim is also included for a method for bringing an intersomatic cage from an open configuration to a closed configuration.
