The device has a storage unit (10) equipped with a stacker-unstacker, and a transferring unit (20) transferring a supporting plate from an empty plates pile (14) towards a filled plates pile (15). A filling unit (30) fills the empty supporting plate, and a driving unit displaces the transferring unit and the filling unit jointly along a horizontal axis (X) parallel to columns of the plate. The filling unit has a distribution head moved along a horizontal axis (Y) parallel to rows of the plate by an endless screw. An independent claim is also included for a method for packaging an extendable mechanical part.
