The box (A) has a block (1) made of polymer material cut without altering its initial shape, and including a plane face resting on a complementary face of an adjacent box to stack the boxes. A housing (2) is formed by withdrawal of the cut material from the block to receive a fragile object (B).The housing has open ends (2a, 2b) each closed by a shutter, where the shutters are formed from the material withdrawn from the block. A rigid metallic rod has a length that is higher than an inner width of the housing and lower than an outer width of the block. An independent claim is also included for a method for protecting a fragile object using a box.
