The method involves estimating dilution ratio of a fuel in a diesel type internal combustion engine (1) of a motorization system by dilution variation based on a functioning mode of an internal combustion engine using a sensor (24), and reducing dilution ratio having a threshold value. The threshold value is a fraction of another dilution ratio estimated at an end of a regeneration phase required by a catalytic particle filter (3). The fraction is determined based on instantaneous engine speed, oil temperature, fuel flow or average actual pressure.
