The wiper (2) has an arm (4) carrying a brush (5) that is in contact with a windscreen (3). A wedge (7) is mounted on a vehicle (1) and receives the arm. The wedge has a rim (10) located at distal end of the wedge with respect to the windscreen for preventing passage of the arm beyond the wedge. A displacement unit displaces the wedge between a raised position, in which the wedge receives the arm in rest position and lower position, in which the brush is in contact with the windscreen.
