The engine has a cooling unit for cooling a combustion chamber (1) by fluid e.g. water or water vapor, and driving a crankshaft. The cooling unit includes a double cylinder with an inner cylinder wall (1a) and an outer cylinder wall (1b), where the cylinder is associated to a double piston. The piston includes an inner cylindrical wall (3a) sliding a space formed by the wall (1a), and an external annular cylindrical wall (3b) sliding in a space formed by the walls of an external annular chamber (2) of the cylinder.
