PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer organic compound and an organic compound each including an aromatic ring having a sulfonated pyridyloxy group or a sulfonate-binding pyridyloxy group, which has high radical resistance, excellent proton conductivity, high ion exchange capacity, and high activity as an acid catalyst, as a structure unit in a molecule, and to provide pharmaceuticals, disinfectants or antimicrobials, ion exchangers, electrolyte membranes, catalysts, membrane electrode conjugates and fuel cells each using them. PSOLUTION: The organic compound is obtained by performing the Williamson reaction while using a pyridine sulfonic acid having a hydroxy group (-OH) as a starting material. Further, using an aromatic ring having a sulfonated pyridyloxy group or a sulfonic acid chloride pyridyloxy group obtained in this method as a starting material, the polymer compound is obtained by performing various polymerization reactions by itself or with an appropriate reagent.
