PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evaluate the characteristics of a pulsation vessel itself without including the shape factor of a vessel wall in detection of the mechanical characteristics of the pulsation vessel such as a blood vessel. PSOLUTION: A mechanical characteristic detection device of the pulsation vessel includes: a pressure detection unit for detecting the pressure P(t) of a pulsation current in the pulsation vessel; and a vessel diameter detection unit for detecting the vessel diameter (r) of the pulsation vessel. From a formula by a viscoelasticity model expressing a relation between pressure P(t) and r(t) about the pulsation vessel, a viscosity BSBP/SBand rigidity ESBP/SBare obtained by regression analysis using a least square method. Furthermore, from BSBP/SBand ESBP/SBand the inertia MP of the pulsation vessel wall, BSBM/SBand ESBM/SBbeing the evaluation indication of the characteristics of the pulsation vessel independent of the thickness of the vessel wall are calculated.
