PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially inexpensive method for producing a 4,4'-disubstituted-2,2'-binaphthalene-1,1'-diol derivative.;SOLUTION: The method for producing the 4,4'-disubstituted-2,2'-binaphthalene-1,1'-diol derivative represented by general formula (1) (wherein, Y¹ and Y² are the same or different, and each one selected from a halogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group and an alkoxy group; X¹ and X² are the same or different and each one selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group, a hydroxy group, an amino group, an alkoxy group and an aryl group) includes oxidatively dimerizing a 4-substituted-1-naphthol derivative in the presence of molecular oxygen in a polar solvent by using a catalyst.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
