PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure sufficient strength of a piston to high combustion pressure in a combustion chamber in a visualization engine for visualizing an inside of the combustion chamber or the piston for the visualization engine.;SOLUTION: The piston 22 includes a piston top part 31 facing the inside of the combustion chamber, a pin boss part 32 provided at a cylinder axial line direction lower side of the piston top part 31, and a hollow column part 33 connected to the piston top part 31 at an upper part thereof and connected to the pin boss part 32 at a lower part thereof. A permeable window 41 for making light in the combustion chamber permeate to a reflection mirror 21 is provided at the piston top part 31 with facing the inside of the combustion chamber. A piston opening part 43 for making light passing through the permeable window 41 from the inside of the combustion chamber and reflected by the reflection mirror 21 pass through to a cylinder side wall opening part is formed on the column part 33 from the upper part over the lower part. Width w1 of the upper part is narrower than width w2 of the lower part and the width gets gradually narrower as it goes from the lower part toward the upper part in the piston opening part 43.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
