PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system in which a moisture content of a membrane electrode assembly of a fuel cell is estimated even if an electrolyte membrane is dry. PSOLUTION: The estimation system of moisture content in a fuel cell is provided with a membrane electrode assembly 118 composed of an electrolyte membrane 112 and a pair of electrodes 114, 116 which pinches the electrolyte membrane 112, a heat generating means 124 which is positioned on the one surface of the membrane electrode assembly 118 and generates heat, a measuring means 126 which is positioned on the other surface of the membrane electrode assembly 118 and measures temperature, and an estimation portion which measures thermal characteristics of the membrane electrode assembly 118 by a heat generation board 124 and a measuring board 126 and estimates the moisture content of the membrane electrode assembly 118.
