PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a degree of freedom in ring gear rigidity and design.;SOLUTION: This differential case 3 has a peripheral flange portion 7 on the outer face of a case wall portion 5 for mounting a ring gear thereon, and recessed pinion gear supporting face portions 9, 11 and recessed side gear supporting face portions 13, 15 formed as concentrically spherical faces on the inner face. A grinding tool 63 is inserted into the case wall portion 5. A window 41 which is rotatable around the grinding tool 63 with a machining rotational axis center line S as a center passing through the curvature centers of the recessed pinion gear supporting face portions 9, 11 and the recessed side gear supporting face portions 13, 15 is provided adjacent to the flange portion 7.
