PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a short backfire antenna which achieves improvement in the gain and reduction in the beam width, a side lobe and cross polarization.;SOLUTION: The short backfire antenna has a large reflector disc 12 formed at the periphery of a cavity wall 11, an excitation antenna 13 disposed on the center axis of the large reflector disc 12, and at least two or more conductive articles 18 provided upright on the large reflector disc 12 around the excitation antenna 13 at a constant or a non-constant radius with respect to the center axis C. The two or more conductive articles 18 are electrically connected to the bottom surface of the large reflector disc 12 and cause a change to the electric field near the excitation antenna 13 to adjust an E-plane radiation pattern so that the E-plane radiation pattern and an H-plane radiation pattern become approximately identical.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
