PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the strength of MgO-C brick added with an Al or/and an Al-Mg alloy which is formed by using a novolak-based phenol resin.;SOLUTION: MgO-C brick 21 is heat treated by a microwave from a microwave oscillator 11 by housing MgO-C brick 21 added with an Al or/and an Al-Mg alloy which is formed by using a novolak-based phenol resin in an applicator 1. The treating temperature is within the range of 400°C-850°C. Brick having high strength can be provided because Al4C3 and AlN are not produced from the Al component and a volatile matter can be completely removed from the novolak-based phenol resin.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
