PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device capable of specifying a dead zone area without influencing on traveling of a vehicle, and promptly changing valve timing, even if the dead zone area of a hydraulic control valve has variations due to temperature, used components and the like. PSOLUTION: The control device 9 controls the hydraulic control valve 73 of a variable valve device 6 in an engine 1 of the vehicle. The control device 9 comprises: a memory portion memorizing the dead zone area information of the hydraulic control valve 73 leaned about each temperature detected by a temperature detecting portion of the vehicle; and a control portion leaning the dead zone area at the detection temperature by controlling the hydraulic control valve 73, and storing the dead zone area at the learned detection temperature to the memory portion, if it is determined that the dead zone area needs to be leaned according to the dead zone area information leaned about each temperature leaned in the memory portion and temperature information from the temperature detecting portion when idling control or stopping control of the engine 1 is executed.
