PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that conventional gellants for aqueous liquids and conventional aqueous liquid gels are problematic in the occurrence of quality changes with time, poor solubility of raw materials in water in preparing aqueous gels, low transparency of formed aqueous liquid gels, the denaturation of perfumes as raw materials by ammonia formed in making aqueous liquid gels, undesirableness of odor as a fragrant agent of a polyamide/epoxy resin crosslinking agent, and others. PSOLUTION: A gellant for aqueous liquids (C) comprising the reaction product between gelatin (A) and the following reaction products (B1) and/or (B2): the reaction product (B1) is a reaction product obtained by reacting an ethylenically unsaturated compound/maleic acid anhydride copolymer with an onium cation and (B2) is a reaction product obtained by reacting an ethylenically unsaturated compound/maleic acid anhydride copolymer with an onium cation and an ammonium.
