PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately generate information related to lifetime in an image support without deteriorating the quality of an image to be formed, even if an uneven wear is caused in a circumferential direction of the image support.;SOLUTION: A lifetime information generation unit 100 calculates a characteristic value A (=average layer thickness-α1×uneven direct current) to determine the lifetime of the image support 44. When the calculated characteristic value A becomes equal to or less than a predetermined value (a critical level of the image quality), the lifetime information generation unit 100 determines that the image support 44 has reached the end of its life. Here in a characteristic value A, assuming that: a difference {Idc(p-p) at a predetermined cycle} is the one between a maximum direct-current value and a minimum direct-current value during a rotational period of the image support 44 after the operation at a predetermined frequency; and a difference {initial Idc(p-p)} is the one between a maximum direct-current value and a minimum direct-current value during a rotational period of the image support 44 in an initialization state, the uneven direct current {ΔIdc=Idc(p-p) at the predetermined cycle-initial Idc(p-p)} is obtained by subtracting the difference {initial Idc(p-p)} from the difference {Idc(p-p) at a predetermined cycle}.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
