PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deviation amount detecting device for efficiently detecting the amount of deviation in a short time.;SOLUTION: The deviation amount detecting device has a belt member which is a printing medium conveyor belt or an intermediate transfer belt in a color image forming apparatus for forming color images using a plurality of photoreceptors. The deviation amount detecting device has a reading means for reading deviation detecting patterns for detecting a deviation that has occurred between different color images, that is, the deviation detecting patterns formed by imaging patterns of the same shape to overlap in the same position of the belt member using the respective photoreceptors; and a detecting means for detecting the occurrence of deviation based on information on the deviation detecting patterns read by the reading means.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
