PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a roll body having a glassy film formed thereon, which makes a coefficient of the thermal expansion of an object to be thermal-sprayed to be easily designed by making the film contain an Na component, and can smooth the surface of the thermal-sprayed glassy film; a glassy thermal spray material used for the same; and further a silent discharge electrode for an ozone-generating device manufactured according to the manufacturing method.;SOLUTION: This manufacturing method uses the granular glassy thermal spray material containing main components: {all of SiO2, B2O3, Li2O, Na2O, BaO, ZnO, TiO2 and Al2O3} and auxiliary components. The manufacturing method includes the steps of: roughening the surface of an article to be coated to give an arithmetic mean roughness of 2 to 7 μm thereto by abrasive blasting; heating the surface at 200 to 1,000°C; plasma-spraying the glassy thermal spray material from a distance of 4 to 8 cm from the surface to form the glassy film formed of at least three or more layers thereon so that the glassy film formed by the plasma spray can have an arithmetic mean roughness of 0.2 to 3.0 μm.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
