PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of preparation of optically-active 4-Halo-3-hydroxybutylamide and its precursor as well as its derivative which are highly-productive and are favorable in terms of costs and environmental point of view.;SOLUTION: The method of preparation of the optically-active 4-Halo-3-hydroxybutylamide includes: a process (1) for obtaining optically-active 4-Halo-3-hydroxy butyronitrile by an enzyme reaction by halohydrin epoxydase; a process (2) in which the reaction liquid obtained in the process (1) is distilled and concentrated for separating unreacted materials; a process (3) in which the residue of the process (2) is subjected to heating treatment and/or addition treatment of metal sa and a process (4) in which nitrile-hydratase is added to the process liquid obtained by the process (3) under specific conditions. The method of preparation of the precursor includes the above processes (1) and (2).
