PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a metadata distribution server for reducing processing costs (throughput and amount of memory required) following the analysis and regeneration of metadata. PSOLUTION: Multimedia content containing moving images and sound is divided into a plurality of scenes to generate metadata for each divided scene. The metadata, which include scene structure information metadata describing the hierarchical structure of the content, are generated in addition to scene interval information and titles. Also, the name or identifier of a descriptor included in the metadata is described as hint information when operating metadata comprising one or a plurality of descriptors for describing semantic content, construction, and characteristics of the content.
