PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recycle an asbestos-containing building material recovered in a dismantling site as a mortar material by being pulverized-fired without classifying asbestos and the other building material.;SOLUTION: A detoxicating treatment method for an asbestos-containing building material is characterized in that an asbestos-containing cement building material in which carbonation has been progressed owing to a change with the lapse of time is pulverized, and is thereafter fired, thus the asbestos-containing cement building material is made harmless and subjected to decalboxylation, so as to obtain a composition essentially consisting of unslaked lime. It is preferable that the asbestos-containing cement building material in which carbonation has been progressed owing to a change with the lapse of time is pulverized to size of passing through a mesh of 3 to 5 mm, and is thereafter fired at 800 to 1,100C for 30 min. And a mortar composition is obtained by slaking a composition consisting essentially of unslaked lime obtained by pulverizing and firing an asbestos-containing cement building material in which carbonation has been progressed owing to a change with the lapse of time, for detoxicating and decarboxylating the asbestos-containing cement building material.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
