PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fire extinguishing technique of an oil tank, by which effective fire extinguishing is made possible even for the fire of a large-capacity oil tank.;SOLUTION: In a method for extinguishing fire of the oil tank, an oxygen-reduced gas 3 such as water mist, a nitrogen-enriched air is emitted to the periphery of the oil tank 1 to form a low oxygen atmosphere area 7 locally in a flame 2, and a fire-extinguishing foam 5 is emitted toward the local low oxygen atmosphere area in the flame, so that the fire-extinguishing foam is stuck to an oil surface 8.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
