PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foundation structure which can reduce a pile axial force at an earthquake in the pile ground or the piled-raft ground by using the water pressure fluctuation of a structure base at the earthquake, or can reduce the vibration of a structure on a mat foundation, and to provide a method of constructing the foundation structure.;SOLUTION: The foundation structure is formed of the base 4 of the structure 2, and the foundation ground 8 for bearing the structure. In the foundation structure, a groundwater level h_u of the foundation ground is higher than the lower surface of the base 4 of the structure, and therefore the foundation structure is designed in order to alleviate the rocking vibration of the structure. In order to prevent water in the base ground from moving between one half area and the other half area of the ground immediately below the structure in a vibrating direction, the whole or part of the base bottom surface of the structure 2 out of the foundation ground 8 is formed into water flow resisting regions 14A, 14B that are formed of clay or a low water-permeable material similar to the clay in a level of water permeability.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
