PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient method for converting taxane amides to paclitaxel or other taxanes. PSOLUTION: The method comprises (i) a step for selectively protecting at least one OH group of taxane amide; (ii) a step for bringing the taxane amide into contact with a transition metal compound to reduce the amide; (iii) a step for bringing the reduced amide into contact with an agent substantially removing the transition metal; (iv) a step for bringing the reduced amide into contact with a hydrolyzing amount of an acid to form a taxane amine salt in a solution; (v) a step for adding a sufficient amount of a solvent to solidify the amine sa and (vi) a step for converting the taxane amine salt into paclitaxel or other taxanes.
