PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the multi-layer butt weld joints of steel plates having a plate thickness of 50 mm or more, which is superior in brittle crack propagation resistant characteristic, namely hardly propagates a brittle crack and finally stops the propagation of the crack even if it has occurred.;SOLUTION: In the multi-layer butt weld joint of a steel plate having a thickness of 50 mm or more, at least one weld layer among weld layers between surface weld layer and rear surface weld layer has a toughness superior than that of the other weld layers by being imparted with tempering effect when its upper layer is welded, and functions as a breakage resistant layer suppressing or stopping the propagation of brittle crack.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
