PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motion vector search method that covers a wide range and with high accuracy using less calculation amount, and to provide a device thereof.;SOLUTION: The motion vector search method includes generating reduced images for each of an original image and a reference image (S101). Searching is executed on a searching region on a reduced reference image at a predetermined interval, and a plurality of motion vector candidates are selected. This search is executed, while gradually reducing a searching interval.
