PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a time for searching a to-be-measured object in a survey instrument for tracking a reflector provided in the to-be-measured object, and measuring a distance and an angle.;SOLUTION: The survey instrument 1 for measuring a three-dimensional location of the to-be-measured object includes: a detection section (a fan-like laser light receiving element 6, a control/calculation section 62, a horizontal angle encoder 16 and a control/calculation section 60) for detecting the direction of the existence of the to-be-measured object 2 by rotating and radiating two or more fan-like laser lights 3a, 3b, 3c including at least one inclined light; an optical system (a tracking optical system 31 and a ranging optical system 32) including a tracking light radiation section 42 for radiating a tracking light 4, and a ranging light radiation section 50 for radiating a ranging light; a tracking light receiving section 43 for receiving the tracking light 4 reflected by the to-be-measured object 2; and a drive section (a vertically-rotating motor 18 and a horizontally-rotating motor 15) for driving the tracking optical system 31 and the ranging optical system 32 based on outputs from the detection section and the tracking light receiving section 43, and collimating the to-be-measured object 2.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
