PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and playback device for a broadcast material data, enabling instant transfer even during recording of the broadcast material data for transfer, and secure playback of the whole broadcast material data under recording without interrupting the playback on the way. PSOLUTION: On arrival of a copy request for the same data as the broadcast material data under recording into a storage 13, a controller 14 decides, prior to the execution of the transfer, whether or not the broadcast material data has been recorded into the storage 13. When the data is yet under recording, the controller 14 controls an output section 16 to make the transfer speed to be substantially coincident with the recording speed. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
