PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seal member protector for a linear guide device and an installation method of the linear guide device using the protector, capable of protecting a lip part of a seal member from abutment on an installation hole, when installing the linear guide device in an installation object part.;SOLUTION: This seal member protector 30A is used for a linear guide (the linear guide device) 20 having a guide rail 1 having a plurality of installation holes 12, a slider 2 oppositely straddlingly arranged on its guide rail upper surface 1f, and a side seal (the seal member) 8 attached to both sides in the sliding direction of its slider 2 and having the lip part 8a slidingly contacting with the guide rail upper surface 1f, and has a protective part 32 protecting the lip part 8a of the side seal 8 from the abutment on the installation hole 12.
