Contrast agent to be used in nuclear magnetic resonance imaging is disclosed. The contrast agent comprises a second material and the first material. The first material comprises at least one atom has a non-zero nuclear spin which provides a polarization magnetic orientation. By being coupled to the first material, to prevent physical contact between the molecules and other atoms and at least one atom, second material suppresses the spin relaxation of polarized magnetic orientation of at least one atom. The first material comprises at least one of 3 He and, 129 Xe 29 Si, 13 C, 19 F, 31 P. The contrast agent is provided in a solid as a powder.
