PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a required reflectance with a fewer number of layers by increasing the width of a transmission area of a filter having discontinuous two transmission areas and two reflection areas on the spectrum.;SOLUTION: An optical filter comprises: a substrate that is transparent in a wavelength area to be used; a transmission filter that is formed on one surface of the substrate and has a layered structure of successively and alternately deposited high refractive index layers and low refractive index layers, in which one of a shorter wavelength side and a longer wavelength side of a predetermined wavelength is rendered into a transmission area and the other area is rendered into a reflection area; and a notch filter that is formed on the other surface of the substrate, has a layered structure of successively and alternately deposited high refractive index layers and low refractive index layers and has a reflection area in a wavelength area distant from the above predetermined wavelength and within the transmission area of the transmission filter.
