PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a platemaking method or a platemaking apparatus by which dots can be easily registered corresponding to the fan-out quantity of a printing sheet. PSOLUTION: A printing plate is made by drawing an image on a plate face by a writing device 21 which opposes a print cylinder 13 having the plate face portion 13A and a non-plate face portion 13B and which is movable in a sub-scanning direction parallel to the rotation axis of the plate cylinder and by a velocity controlling means to control the moving velocity of the writing device in a main scanning direction orthogonal to the drawing direction. The velocity controlling means controls the moving velocity of the writing device from the plate face portion to the non-plate face portion or from the non-plate face portion to the plate face portion based on the fan-out quantity of the plate face portion so as to obtain a printing plate having an image drawn in the plate face portion of the printing plate for forming an image, the image stretched in the grip tail side along the direction orthogonal to the rolling direction of the printing plate corresponding to the fan-out quantity of the printing sheet.
