PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for supporting and guiding the short sides of a cast slab just below a continuous casting mold by which the bulging of the short sides of the cast slab just below the mold can be reduced at a low cost without bringing about the excessive pushing-in, even in the case of casting at high speed.;SOLUTION: In the method for supporting and guiding the short sides of the cast slab just below the continuous casting mold, using foot roll, a three-divided projecting type foot roll 10 is composed of one piece of center-roll 10C abutted on the center part of the short side of the cast slab 1 and two pieces of edge-rolls 10E at both edge parts of the short sides of the cast slab, respectively, fitted so as to be individually rotatable in the the same roll shaft 11, and the roll radius of the center roll having larger by 1-5% of the thickness in the cast slab (δ=1-5% thickness of the cast slab) than the roll radius of the edge roll.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
